...Snow and Slushy Driving Conditions on Mountain Passes Today
into Tuesday...

Rain and snow will develop across Southeast Idaho today and
Tuesday. Snow levels will lower to around 6500 feet elevation
by this afternoon and 6000 feet Tuesday morning. Accumulation of
2 to 4 inches is expected on mountain passes with locally higher
amounts over the eastern highlands over the next two days. Some of
this will melt or turn to slush during the afternoon hours with
temperatures around 40 degrees. The best time for snow to remain
on road surfaces will be overnight. Difficult driving conditions
are expected on Galena Summit, Banner Summit, Willow Creek Pass,
and most of the passes along the Idaho and Wyoming border. Be
prepared for winter like driving conditions and perhaps avoiding
some of the higher elevation passes if possible.
