...NWS METEOROLOGISTS CONFIRM A TORNADO OCCURRED IN LAURENS AND
SPARTANBURG COUNTIES...

The National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg SC
is currently conducting a storm survey in central Laurens County
and southeastern Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The survey
is in relation to the severe thunderstorms that moved through the
area on October 8, 2017 associated with Tropical Depression Nate.

The survey team has concluded that a tornado did occur, beginning
in Laurens County and moving into Spartanburg County; however,
the team has not made a final determination as to the strength of
the tornado or the exact path location, length, or width.

A final assessment including results of the survey are expected
to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information
