Flood Statement
National Weather Service Melbourne, FL
959 AM EDT Tue Oct 17 2017

A River Flood Warning remains in effect for...The Saint Johns River
near Cocoa, above Lake Harney near Geneva, near Sanford, near Deland,
and at Astor.

...Major Flooding is ongoing above Lake Harney near Geneva...

...Moderate Flooding persists near Cocoa, near Sanford, near Deland,
and near Astor...

River levels are expected to remain nearly steady or only slightly
decrease this week. However, some areas along the river will see a slight
rise due to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours. Scattered to numerous
showers and a few thunderstorms are forecast over the basin from today
through at least Thursday.

Regardless of additional rainfall over the basin, river levels will
remain above flood stage for several weeks, with a very slow rate of
decline. The continuation of a downward trend in river levels will
depend on heavy or persistent rainfall occurring over the basin beyond
the five-day forecast period.
