A smoke plume from the West Mims Wildfire in the Okefenokee
National Wildlife Refuge will continue to move east to northeast
across portions of Nassau, Charlton, northern Duval, and portions
of Camden counties tonight through early Wednesday morning.
Locally low visibilities from the smoke are expected on some
areas roadways east of the Wildfire. Reports around Hilliard
indicate visibilities down to 3 miles at times. These visibilities
may lower further by early Wednesday morning.

Although the general public may not be affected, children,
pregnant women, the elderly, and those that have heart or lung
disease are especially vulnerable to smoke exposure. Fine
particles are respiratory irritants, and exposures to high
concentrations can cause persistent cough, phlegm, wheezing, and
difficulty breathing.
