...Big Changes on the Way...

After a few warm days, major changes are on the way for the Silver
State. Very late tonight through Friday afternoon, a strong cold
front will move through northern Nevada. This frontal boundary
will result in a sharp temperature drop, gusty winds, and rain
changing to snow. A brief period of moderate to heavy snow may
occur for elevations above 5000 feet along and north of highway
50. For locations in northern Humboldt County, a brief period of
snow will also be possible. Very light accumulations on grassy
surfaces or isolated slushy spots may develop on area passes and
summits. Brief wind gusts to 45 mph may also occur with the
frontal boundary during the morning hours. As the front departs
the region, temperatures will struggle to climb out of the 40s on
Friday, with continued gusty winds.

If driving Friday morning, be prepared for adverse and quickly
changing weather conditions. This especially applies to the passes
and summits. Plan accordingly and remember to take it slow in ice
and snow!
