Weather Summary for Upper Mississippi River Valley
National Weather Service La Crosse WI
820 PM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

Unseasonably warm temperatures were recorded across the region today
ahead of an approaching cold front. Area high temperatures ranged
from 70 to 77 degrees, while behind the cold front, in western
Minnesota, readings were only in the 60s.

The cold front will sweep through the area tonight bringing little
more than a switch to westerly breezes to note it`s passage. This
will also bring in cooler temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s
tonight, along with highs in the mid 60s to around 70 on Thursday.

Friday will see increasing south wind as the region is squeezed
between low pressure in the plains and high pressure to our
southeast. This will also be a very warm flow that will push
temperatures into the 70s area wide, with a few locations getting
close to 80.

Another system in the plains will bring a chance for showers
starting late Friday night, with better chances for showers Saturday
afternoon and evening.
