WITH HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE AND CLEAR SKIES TO START THE
EVENING...TONIGHT WILL AGAIN BE FRIGID BEFORE CLOUDS BEGIN TO
MOVE INTO THE AREA AHEAD OF THE NEXT SYSTEM. TEMPERATURES WILL
FALL BELOW ZERO ACROSS TYPICALLY COLDER LOCATIONS NORTH AND WEST
OF NYC...INTERIOR CONNECTICUT AND THE LONG ISLAND PINE BARRENS.
ELSEWHERE...OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS...AND
TO AROUND 10 DEGREES IN THE IMMEDIATE NYC METRO AREA.

LOW PRESSURE THEN APPROACHES THE AREA FROM THE SOUTHWEST ON
MONDAY. WITH COLD AIR IN PLACE...LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP FROM
SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST LATE MONDAY MORNING INTO MONDAY AFTERNOON.
AS TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING MONDAY EVENING...SNOW WILL
TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN AND THEN RAIN FROM SOUTH TO
NORTH. RAIN FOR THE WHOLE REGION IS EXPECTED BY TUESDAY MORNING.
WHILE THE TRANSITION FROM SNOW TO RAIN SHOULD OCCUR FAIRLY QUICKLY
ALONG THE COAST...INLAND LOCATIONS COULD SEE SEVERAL HOURS OF
FREEZING RAIN MONDAY NIGHT AS THE COLD AIR TAKES LONGER TO
RETREAT.

HIGHS ON MONDAY WILL RANGE FROM A FEW DEGREES BELOW NORMAL ACROSS
LONG ISLAND FROM 5 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL ACROSS THE LOWER
HUDSON VALLEY AND INTERIOR CONNECTICUT. UNDER STRONG SOUTHERLY
FLOW AS THE SYSTEM PASSES TO OUR WEST ON TUESDAY...HIGHS WILL RISE
INTO THE 50S...10 TO 15 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF
YEAR.
