The following information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through 0800 UTC. ...TROPICAL WAVES... The axis of a tropical wave is near 82W north of 05N, moving west at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the ITCZ/monsoon trough section below. The axis of a tropical wave is near 102W north of 05N, moving westward at around 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the ITCZ/monsoon trough section below. The axis of a tropical wave is near 115W north of 05N, moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the ITCZ/monsoon trough section below. The axis of a tropical wave is near 125W from 06N to 21N, moving westward at 5 to 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the ITCZ/monsoon trough section below. ...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... The monsoon trough extends from 09N85W to 08N94W to 12N113W to 12N116W. The ITCZ continues from 12N1176 to 11N123W, and from 09N126W to 08N140W. Scattered moderate isolated strong convection is noted E of 80W, from 04N to 10N between 81W and 89W, from 03N to 13N between 111W and 126W, and from 04N to 10N between 130W and 140W. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO... Fresh to strong winds are noted over the Gulf of Tehuantepec, with gentle to locally moderate winds elsewhere south of southern Mexico. Gentle to moderate winds are west of Baja California Norte. Light to gentle winds are elsewhere across the open waters. Seas are in the 4-6 ft range over the open waters off Mexico. Over the Gulf of California, gentle to moderate winds, and seas of 1-3 ft, prevail. For the forecast, fresh to locally strong winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec will diminish today. Winds are forecast to strengthen in the northern Gulf of California today through Fri night. Moderate to fresh winds will be offshore Baja California Norte through tonight before diminishing. Mainly gentle to moderate winds will prevail elsewhere. Moderate seas will prevail across the open waters over the next several days. ...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR... Gentle to moderate winds are over and downstream of the Gulf of Papagayo. Light to gentle winds are elsewhere N of 05N. S of 05N, gentle to moderate winds prevail. Seas are in the 4-6 ft range. For the forecast, moderate to fresh winds will pulse across the Gulf of Papagayo. Gentle to moderate winds will prevail between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Elsewhere, light to gentle winds will prevail. Moderate seas in S to SW swell will prevail over the regional waters during the period, except building to rough S of the Galapagos Islands by the end of the week. ...REMAINDER OF THE AREA... High pressure prevails over the waters north of 20N. Gentle to moderate winds prevail north of the ITCZ/monsoon trough. Moderate to fresh winds are south of the ITCZ/monsoon trough. Southerly swell of 7 to 8 ft is impacting the waters south of 05N and west of 110W. Elsewhere seas are in the 4 to 7 ft range. For the forecast, cross equatorial, rough southerly swell will cover the waters S of 06N and W of 100W through the end of the week, with a reinforcing set later in the weekend. Moderate to fresh winds S of the ITCZ will persist into the weekend. $$ AL
