...July saw normal temperatures and was much drier than normal for
Tallahassee...

...July 2014 was the second driest July on record for Tallahassee...

The average monthly temperature for July recorded at the Tallahassee
Regional Airport was 82.3 degrees, or 0.3 degrees above normal. The
highest temperature recorded during the month was 100 degrees on the
28th and was the first 100 degree reading for Tallahassee since May
26, 2012. The lowest temperature was 64 degrees on the 5th which
established a new record low for that date. A low of 66 degrees on
the 30th broke a record and the max temp of 99 on the 3rd tied the
record for those dates. The temperature reached or exceeded the 90
degree mark 26 times, 3 above normal.

Rainfall at the Tallahassee Regional Airport for July only measured
2.33 inches, or 4.84 inches below normal making it the 2nd driest
July on record. The greatest amount in a 24-hour period was 0.72
inches on the 22nd through 23rd. There were 13 days with measurable
rainfall during the month which was 4 below normal. Despite the
drier than normal conditions the past three  months, Tallahassee
still had a year-to-date surplus rainfall of 2.26 inches at the end
of July. There were 16 days with thunder at the airport which was 3
below normal. The peak gust recorded at the airport was 38 mph from
the southwest on the 15th.

The outlook for August from the Climate Prediction Center calls for
an enhanced chance of experiencing above normal temperatures and
equal chances of experiencing above, normal or below normal
rainfall. The average monthly temperature for August is 81.8 degrees
with normal rainfall of 7.35 inches.
