...HEAVY RAINS HEADED FOR THE SOUTH SLOPES OF THE BROOKS RANGE...

A WEATHER SYSTEM CURRENTLY MOVING NORTH THROUGH THE GULF OF ALASKA
WILL MAKE ITS WAY INTO THE INTERIOR FRIDAY SPREADING RAIN ACROSS
THE AREA. AS THE SYSTEM MOVES TO THE SOUTH SLOPES OF THE BROOKS
RANGE RAINFALL WILL INTENSIFY AS MOISTURE CONTINUES TO BE PULLED
IN BY A LOW CENTER ALOFT.

RAINFALL IS EXPECT TO BEGIN FRIDAY EVENING OVER THE SOUTH SLOPES
OF THE BROOKS RANGE AND CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY BEFORE THE LOW
MOVES NORTHWEST OVER THE ARCTIC. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES
ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN 9PM FRIDAY AND 9PM SATURDAY EAST OF ANAKTUVUK
PASS.

THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL PUSH RIVER LEVELS TO NEAR BANKFULL IN SOME
AREAS...BUT NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. RESIDENTS AND
VACATIONERS SHOULD BE ALERT TO SUDDEN CHANGES IN THE WEATHER AND
THE POTENTIAL FOR RAPIDLY RISING WATER IN STREAMS AND RIVERS.
