...The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Flood Warning
for the following rivers in Arkansas...Mississippi...

Mississippi River Near Arkansas City affecting Chicot...Desha...
  Bolivar and Washington Counties

At the confluence of the Ohio River and the Mississippi River, Cairo
is near crest today. The crest is a very broad crest and thus the
river will fall very slowly behind the crest. The current 48.6 stage
at Cairo is higher than the crest of 48.44 feet on March 20th.

As the crest progresses downstream, the river will stay up longer
behind the crest. The crest will not reach Arkansas city until
the 15th. Arkansas City has already exceeded the March 30th crest of
35.34 feet. This is primarily due to a much higher Arkansas River
than we had in March. With the Arkansas River not expected to drop
significantly as the crest from Cairo moves south and a potential
for addition rainfall over the next 8 days, the crest was raised
a half foot to flood stage. River forecast points on the
Mississippi River downstream have been adjusted upward somewhat due
to the higher Arkansas River water.

Do not drive or walk through areas where water covers roadway! The
water may be deeper than it appears. Remember...Turn around, don`t

Forecasts are based on rainfall that has occurred and that which is
forecast to occur.
