...Wildfires Burning Across Portions of Northeast Arkansas...

Fast spreading grass fires are currently ongoing in portions of the
Jonesboro Arkansas metropolitan area, especially in southwest
portions of the city near Interstate 555 and Southwest Drive area.
If fire approaches your location, move quickly to a safer area out
of harms way. Additional wildfires are likely across all of
northeast Arkansas for the remainder of this afternoon through
early evening.

A cold front will move across northeast Arkansas late this
afternoon and evening. Strong southwest winds will persist from
now through around 4 pm cst, becoming westerly between
approximately 4 pm and 6 pm cst, then northwesterly after 6 pm
cst. This will result in a change in fire spread, with initial
fire spread towards the northeast, becoming easterly, then towards
the southeast with the wind change and frontal passage. No
rainfall is expected with the front.

A burn ban remains in effect for several counties across northeast
Arkansas. Outdoor burning is not recommended today across all of
northeast Arkansas due to the critical fire weather conditions. A
Red Flag Warning also remains in effect through 6 pm cst for
Randolph, Clay, Lawrence, Greene, and Craighead counties.

Weather conditions should improve later this evening as relative
humidity values increase, which should lower the overall fire
