Survey Summary:
A severe thunderstorm moved over Marion County on the afternoon of
May 11th, 2015.  This storm produced a sporadic area of
straight-line wind damage along Poplar Corner and Mays Chapel
Roads.  The first sign of damage was along Mays Chapel Road where a
large tree branch was snapped.  The sporadic damage swath then moved
to the ENE along Poplar Corner Road.  At 2240 Poplar Corner Road, a
metal roof was blown to the ENE off a farm shed.  About a mile to
the east at 3750 Poplar Corner Road, another metal roof was blown
off to the ENE from an old barn which caused the majority of the
barn structure to collapse.  This damage was all rated as
straight-line wind damage with peak wind speeds of 60 to 65 MPH.
