Survey Summary:

The National Weather Service surveyed two areas of damage inside of
Harrison County. There were isolated pockets of tree damage
throughout the county but the survey team focused on the two main
damage areas. The first area was an older barn off of Highway 32 (Connersville
Pike). A 30 x 40 barn was hit by 60 mph winds entering several weak
points on the west edge of the barn picking up in sliding portions
of the barn. Sheeting from the barn was thrown 400 yards to the
east. No damage to trees or residences was noted along the
property. The second area was in downtown Cynthiana at Rohs Opera House at 133
East Pike Street. This is the tallest building in Cynthiana and wind
hit the west facing part of the building peeling back the wood and
doing some quick damage. Water got into the building doing
considerable damage to the first two floors of the opera house. No
other damage was noted or reported inside of downtown Cynthiana with
wind speeds estimated at 55 mph.
