Subject: Ending River Forecasting Services for the Green River
              at Brownsville

Due to the dam failure at old lock and dam #6, there is no longer
any pool at Brownsville.

The river readings were moved by the United States Geological Survey
(USGS) downstream to a new location near the water treatment plant.
This gauge reads higher than the previous old gauge at lock and dam
#6 by around 30 feet. Both the lock and remains of the dam were
removed in March.

The water plant gauge is completely incompatible with the old lock
and dam gauge and as a result, forecasts cannot be generated for the
water plant gauge. Edmonson County Emergency Management has
determined that forecasts are no longer need at Brownsville, and
forecasting services will be discontinued on July 3rd. This
assessment was agreed by the USGS, the US Army Corps of Engineers,
and the National Parks Service at Mammoth Cave.
