During the afternoon hours precipitation over the plains was
approaching the Mississippi valley. By early evening light rain was
falling mainly west of the River. Afternoon high temperatures were
generally in the 40s to near 50.

Winter weather is returning tonight through Friday night as a potent
winter storm promises accumulating snow, rain, and wind. Freezing
precipitation, also cannot be ruled out. Snowfall amounts upwards of
a foot are possible for some, with the highest amounts extending
from northern Iowa, across southeast Minnesota into northwest
Wisconsin. Winter storm watches, warnings and blizzard warnings are
in effect for parts of the region for tonight through Friday night.
There will be significant impacts to travel, so plan ahead.

Keep up on the latest forecasts as just a small shift in the track
of the storm will have large in impacts on what precipitation falls
where, and how much.
