THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

  Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
  Elevated Ice Accumulation Risk this morning northwest Indiana.
  Elevated Snow and Sleet Risk east of I-57 this morning and near
   Lake Michigan from Chicago southeast this afternoon and tonight.

DISCUSSION:

A mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain was occurring early
this morning generally along and east of Interstate 57 across
parts of east central Illinois and northwest Indiana. This
precipitation will change to all light snow this morning, and may
produce slick driving conditions. Lake effect snow showers will
likely develop this afternoon from Chicago southeast into Lake
County Indiana. Minor accumulation is possible, with snow bands
eventually shifting east into Lake and Porter counties overnight.

Localized ice jam flooding will remain a threat on area rivers.

  Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION:

Lake effect snow showers will persist Saturday in northwest
Indiana. Widespread light snow is expected to develop across the
entire region late Sunday, and continue through Monday morning. A
few inches of accumulation are possible, and may affect the Monday
morning commute. In addition, arctic cold will bring sub zero
wind chills to the area Monday night into early Tuesday.

Localized ice jam flooding will remain a threat on area rivers.
