Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
354 AM MDT Tue May 7 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 9 AM TO 10 PM today
for portions of south central and southeast Colorado...

...A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the San Luis Valley
from 11 AM to 9 PM Wednesday...

...A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for Wednesday morning
through Wednesday evening for portions of south central and
southeast Colorado...

.Discussion...

High fire danger is expected today, with damaging winds and very dry
air in place over the forecast area this afternoon. A Red Flag
Warning remains in place over the San Luis Valley, Fremont County,
the eastern mountains, and the southeast plains. A High Wind Warning
has also been issued for the San Luis Valley, Fremont County, the
eastern mountains, and the southern I-25 corridor. Please avoid
activities that could start a fire today!

Critically dry conditions persist for the San Luis Valley on
Wednesday. For the this reason, a Red Flag Warning has been issued
for the valley on Wednesday. The eastern mountains, eastern Las
Animas, and Otero County, remain in a Fire Weather Watch due to the
possibility of weaker winds in those areas on Wednesday.

Chances of precipitation will increase Thursday through Saturday
over the district, with a mitigation to the fire weather threat as
cooler temperatures and higher RH values return.

Afternoon smoke dispersion rates will be excellent both today and
tomorrow.
