...Severe Weather Awareness Week for Arkansas and Tennessee is Next
Week...

Severe Weather Awareness Week for Arkansas and Tennessee will take
place February 26th through March 4th. The goal of Severe Weather
Awareness Week is to enhance awareness of and preparedness for severe
thunderstorms and the hazards they bring. Severe Weather Awareness
Week is a collaborative effort between the National Weather Service,
numerous state and local emergency management officials, the media,
and other concerned agencies.

During the week, your National Weather Service will provide
information on a variety of hazards, including tornadoes, flooding,
lightning, and thunderstorm winds. We will also discuss watches,
warnings, and how to receive severe weather updates. The information
will be posted to our website and on our social media channels.
Additionally, a tornado drill is scheduled for March 1st at
9:30 AM CST for Tennessee and 10:00 AM CST for Arkansas. The drill
will be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio.

We encourage everyone in Arkansas and Tennessee to use Severe Weather
Awareness Week as a time to review your severe weather plans and
procedures. The tornado drill is an excellent opportunity to
practice your safety plan. Look for updates and information
throughout the week.
