Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
201 PM SST Sat Feb 24 2018

.Short term...
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...Latest model solutions show a
trough remaining just west-southwest of the Samoan Islands
through the new week. Upper air profile (25/00Z) this afternoon
shows a dry mid to upper level atmosphere. Hence, winds and
showers have diminished. A high pressure to the southeast
continues to move east as it transports gentle to moderate
easterlies with higher gusts, and scattered to numerous showers
through the short term forecast. Therefore, expect embedded
showers within the easterly flow through this forecast period.

.Long term...
TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...The aforementioned high pressure to the
southeast will continue to bring gentle to moderate easterlies
through Tuesday night before becoming variable Wednesday. Expect
winds and showers to diminish further throughout the long term
forecast.

&&

.Marine...
Latest Wave Watch III model solutions are showing a downward
trend in combined seas. Seas are further subsiding to 4 to 6 ft by
at least Monday night and will remain there through Thursday. No
siginificant swells are expected in the next couple of days. In
the meantime, will continue advisories for high surfs and small
crafts through Monday night as winds are also diminishing.
Therefore, seas of 5 to 7 feet with longer periods will remain
through Monday night.
