.OVERVIEW...A STRONG STORM SYSTEM MOVED ACROSS THE MIDSOUTH
THURSDAY OCTOBER 2ND. THE STORM SYSTEM WAS A LONG LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS...THE LINE MOVED GENERALLY WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE
MID-SOUTH. WINDS IN THE LINE WERE GENERALLY ABOUT 40 MPH WITH
GUSTS IN MANY PLACES AROUND 60 TO 70 MPH.

SURVEY SUMMARY: TORNADO DAMAGED RICE FIELD WITH A VARYING PATH
WITH THE MAXIMUM WIDTH ESTIMATE AT ABOUT 100 FT. THE TORNADO
CROSSED A ROAD INTO ANOTHER FIELD WITH NO CROPS AND SEEM TO HAVE
LIFTED IN THAT FIELD.

SURVEY SUMMARY: A STORM SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN TATE COUNTY
MISSISSIPPI ON 10/3. STRAIGHT LINE WINDS CAUSED MINOR ROOF DAMAGE
AT THE STRAYHORN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHICH IS ALONG MISSISSIPPI
STATE ROUTE 4. IN ADDITION...LARGE TREE LIMBS WERE DOWN IN THE
AREA ALONG WITH OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTY.


...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS IN POINSETT COUNTY ARKANSAS...

SURVEY SUMMARY: A STORM SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN POINSETT COUNTY
ARKANSAS ON 10/3. STRAIGHT LINE WINDS DAMAGED THE WALL AND ROOF OF A
METAL BUILDING HOUSING A DISCOUNT STORE IN NORTHERN PORTIONS OF
HARRISBURG. DEBRIS FROM THE BUILDING BROKE WINDOWS IN A BUILDING
TO THE IMMEDIATE NORTH. A TREE APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE NORTHEAST OF
THE BUILDING WAS SNAPPED. MAXIMUM WINDS WERE APPROXIMATELY 70-75
MPH.
