The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas
  Western Franklin County in east central Kansas...
  Southeastern Jefferson County in northeastern Kansas...
  Northwestern Anderson County in east central Kansas...
  Douglas County in east central Kansas...
  Southeastern Osage County in east central Kansas...
  Coffey County in east central Kansas...
  Southeastern Lyon County in east central Kansas...

* Until 945 PM CDT

* At 640 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
  Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in
  the advisory area. 1 to 2 inches of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Lawrence, Ottawa, Baldwin City, Burlington, Eudora, Overbrook,
  Lyndon, Centropolis, Lebo, Perry, McLouth, Pomona, Lecompton,
  Waverly, Clinton, Williamsburg, New Strawn, Quenemo, Melvern and

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 35 between mile markers 143 and 183, and between mile
markers 187 and 191.
 Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 193 and 205.


Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
