Today...a strong Arctic cold front barreled through Western and
North Central Nebraska, brining strong northwest winds,
significant drops in temperatures, and even some light snow. High
temperatures in advance of the front climbed into the 50s, but
fell nearly 20 to 30 degrees within a couple of hours of the
Arctic front passing. Northwest winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour
were common, with gusts approaching 50 miles per hour. Finally,
light snow fell in some areas across the Sandhills and
Northwestern Nebraska, with some locations receiving a dusting to
near one inch.
Tonight...Arctic air will continue to settle into the region, with
low temperatures falling into the single digits to teens above
zero. Snow showers will gradually come to an end, with a slight
decrease in the northwest winds to around 10 to 20 miles per hour.
Overnight wind chills may approach zero to 10 degrees below zero.
