Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
347 PM EST Mon Feb 27 2017

High pressure will shift offshore tonight as a strong area of low
pressure approaches from the west for the middle of the week.
With southerly flow in place, temperatures on Tuesday will rise
into the mid to upper 50s, about 10 degrees above normal for the
last day of February. In addition, moisture will begin to
increase, resulting in areas of fog and light rain Tuesday night
into Wednesday morning.

After a foggy start to the day, showers and thunderstorms will
develop out ahead of the approaching cold front Wednesday
afternoon, with heavy rain and gusty winds possible in any
stronger storms. Despite plenty of cloud cover, temperatures on
Wednesday will rise to near record levels, with highs around 70
from New York City north and west and in the 60s elsewhere.
