This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Southwest North
Carolina...East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Strong southerly winds are expected to continue across the
mountains this evening, mainly above 3000 feet. Gusts around 40
mph will be possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

A strong storm system will move across the Tennessee Valley and
southern Appalachians during the latter half of the week into the
weekend. A few thunderstorms may be possible ahead of the cold
front on Friday, along with localized heavy rainfall.

Behind the cold front, winds will shift to the northwest,
ushering a return of much colder temperatures. As the colder air
moves in Friday evening and Friday night, rain will briefly mix
with sleet before transitioning over to snow, with light freezing
drizzle possible in higher elevations by Saturday morning. Light
snow accumulations are possible, especially across the Plateau,
southwest Virginia, and the far east Tennessee Mountains.
Remaining moisture on surfaces may freeze on Friday night with
temperatures rapidly dropping below freezing resulting in patchy
icy areas on roads and bridges.

Spotter activation is not expected.
