Heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching warm front followed by a cold front. Scattered severe thunderstorms may produce one or two tornadoes, damaging wind gusts of at least 60 mph and or large hail up to 1 inch in diameter. The area with the greatest risk includes from the NYC Metro area north across the Lower Hudson Valley and west across Northeast New Jersey. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to end with the passage of the cold front after midnight. High pressure approaching will provide fair weather with near normal temperatures Saturday through the day Monday.
