...RECORD-SHATTERING DAY ACROSS THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES...

Today, February 10, 2017, new record high temperatures were set at
all three of the ASOS (Automated Surface Observing System) climate
sites in the Texas Panhandle.

A new record high temperature of 89 degrees was set in Amarillo
today. This breaks the old record of 82 which was set in 1962.

A new record high temperature of 90 degrees was set in Borger
today. This breaks the old record of 84 which was set in 1962.

A new record high temperature of 89 degrees was set in Dalhart
today. This breaks the old record of 81 which was set in 2016.

At Amarillo, Borger, and Dalhart, all daily record high temperatures
that were recorded were also a record high for occurring so early in
the season.

In Amarillo, prior to this year, the previous earliest calendar day
for 89 degrees to be reached was when 90 degrees was recorded on
March 10, 1989, 30 days later on the calendar.

In Borger, the previous earliest calendar day for 90 degrees to be
reached was when 91 degrees was recorded on March 10, 1989, 30 days
later on the calendar.

In Dalhart, the previous earliest calendar day for 89 degrees to be
reached was when 90 degrees was recorded on March 10, 1989, 30 days
earlier on the calendar.

In Amarillo, the new daily high temperature record of 89 degrees was
the 6th occurrence where a temperature of 85 degrees or greater was
recorded in the month of February.

In Borger, the new daily high temperature record of 90 degrees was
the 8th occurrence where a temperature of 85 degrees or greater was
recorded in the month of February.

In Dalhart, the new daily high temperature record of 89 degrees was
the 4th occurrence where a temperature of 85 degrees or greater was
recorded in the month of February.
