Issued at 1030 PM EDT Mon May 13 2024 Currently - The combination of a broad high pushing off the Atlantic coast and lower pressure in the western Gulf of Mexico is resulting in breezes steadily freshening as they clock further southeasterly. This increasing flow has resulted in moisture taking a step upwards over the past 24 hours. Dew points are now in the upper 70s with temperatures remaining in the lower to mid 80s. Lower level ridging continues to dominate across our broader area, even as shortwave trough marches eastward into the southeastern United States. Stable conditions continue despite the increase in surface moisture and precipitable water around 1.75 inches. The local stabilization is likely being bolstered by Cuban influences as this evenings sounding indicated a substantial inhibition layer based around 980 mb. Short Term Update - The overall pressure gradient will tighten overnight as earlier day time heating effects dissipate and the previously mentioned high moves further off the coast. This will result in breezes strengthening a bit more as they clock further south. This will ensure overnight lows will struggle to fall much and hold dew points upper in the upper 70s. This is essentially summer conditions. Rain chances will remain essentially zero due to the continued dominance of the lower level ridge and multiple low level inhibition layers. && .MARINE... Issued at 1030 PM EDT Mon May 13 2024 A broad high will shift eastward further off the Atlantic coast through the overnight period. This along with dissipating effects of day time heating will result in freshening breezes that will steadily clock further southeast to south. A caution remains in effect for all Keys waters through the overnight period. Only a minor first period refresh done for winds in the evening marine update. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1030 PM EDT Mon May 13 2024 VFR conditions will prevail at the island terminals overnight. Surface winds will gradually shift further south while freshening through this period. This will result in increasing crosswinds at our east-west runways. && .KEY WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... FL...None.
