A south to southwesterly flow will allow for warmer temperatures tonight than last night. Temperatures will drop into the 20s in the outlying areas, 30s along the coast, and lower to middle 40s for the New York City metro area. Skies will be clear. A cold front will approach on Saturday. Continued southwesterly flow will mean seasonably warm temperatures, in the 50s region- wide. Clouds will be on the increase from mid-morning onward, with mostly cloudy skies expected by late afternoon. There will be a chance for rain showers mainly in the afternoon and into the first half of Saturday night. The cold front will move through during the evening and nighttime hours, allowing winds to shift to the west, then northwest. High pressure will build in behind the cold front on Sunday. Conditions will be breezy on a northwest flow, which will usher in a cooler air mass. Highs on Sunday and into the beginning of next week will slightly below normal, generally in the 40s region- wide. $$ JP is the U.S. government's official web portal to all federal, state and local government web resources and services.
