Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
445 AM EST Tue Dec 12 2017

Low pressure from the eastern Great Lakes will track north of the
area today. This will give the area a chance for light snow and a
light wintry mix across inland areas, while light rain is expected for
the New York City metro and coastal areas this morning. The
rain/snow line will move north as the morning progresses, and a
changeover to all rain is expected everywhere by late morning.
Generally, only a dusting is possible for inland areas, with
isolated amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible across western Orange
County. A southerly flow will set up, allowing temperatures to
warm into the 40s inland, to the lower 50s along the coast.

Colder air will move into the region tonight, allowing for a
changeover back to all snow from northwest to southeast. However,
only a passing rain and/or snow shower is possible. Lows will drop
into the 20s for much of the region. Conditions will become windy
late tonight into daybreak Wednesday.

Windy conditions will continue on Wednesday, with gusts as high as
45 mph possible, especially for eastern Long Island. It will also
be cold, with temperatures in the upper 20s inland, to at or just
above freezing along the coast. Wind chill values during the day
will be in the single digits above zero and teens. A passing snow
shower is possible for eastern areas.
