High pressure across upstate New York to the mid Atlantic will
move offshore today into tonight. As the high moves east this
afternoon high clouds in advance of approaching low pressure will
begin to move over the region from the west. Light winds this
morning will become southerly. Temperatures will peak in the upper
40s to lower 50s this afternoon.

As high pressure continues to move out to sea tonight low pressure
will advance toward the area. Late tonight and toward Tuesday
morning there will be a chance for light rain across the Lower
Hudson Valley...northeastern New Jersey...and the New York City
Metro. Lows tonight will range in the upper 30s inland to the mid
40s along the coast.

Tuesday low pressure will be moving through the area and rain
will be widespread. During the afternoon the rain may be heavy at
times along with a rumble of thunder. Southerly strong and gusty
winds will develop during Tuesday and by the afternoon gusts to 30
to 40 MPH will be possible across the New York City Metro area and
Long Island. Warmer air will move into the region along with the
rain and highs will reach the mid 50s to lower 60s.
