Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
427 AM EDT Thu May 18 2017

High pressure will slowly drift offshore during the day on
Thursday. With continued southwesterly flow, record or near record
highs are possible today, especially inland where temperatures
will rise into the 90s in many locations. Closer to the coast,
afternoon sea breezes will limit temperatures to the upper 70s to
lower 80s, still well above normal.

Temperatures will remain warm overnight, only falling to around 70
in the city and the mid 60s elsewhere. A cold front will then
cross the region during the day on Friday. This will bring the
chance for an afternoon thunderstorm or two and slightly cooler
temperatures, with highs topping out in the 80s.

Temperatures will return to normal or slightly below normal for
the weekend as high pressure builds back into the region.
