Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
421 PM EST Sat Feb 17 2018

The chances for precipitation will increase tonight as an area of
low pressure to our southwest approaches. The precipitation may
start off as a mix of rain and snow along the coast and into the
New York City metro area, but a change over to all snow is
forecast most everywhere later tonight, except for the South Fork
of Long Island. The snow will come down moderate to briefly heavy
at times. Precipitation will begin to taper off late tonight, with
dry conditions expected by Sunday morning.

Clouds will quickly diminish Sunday morning as the low heads away
from the area and high pressure builds in from the west. Mostly
clear skies are expected by mid morning, if not sooner.
Temperatures will be near normal for this time of year, in the
lower 40s.

High pressure will push off the Northeast coast Sunday night. This
will allow a southerly flow to develop and therefore warmer
temperatures for Washington`s Birthday.
