Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
408 PM EDT THU JUL 21 2016

Typical summertime heat and humidity is in store through the
weekend as winds shift to the southwest with high pressure off the
East Coast. Lows tonight will only dip into the lower to middle
70s in and around the New York City metro area, with 60s expected
elsewhere. It will remain dry under a mostly clear sky to start
off, but clouds will increase late.

Clouds continue to increase on Friday as a cold front approaches
from the northwest. There will be a chance for showers and
thunderstorms that will overspread the area from northwest to
southeast, with the best chances late in the afternoon into the
evening hours. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s in the New
York City metro area, with upper 80s to lower 90s expected
elsewhere. Combined with the humidity, it will feel more like the
upper 90s in the metro area. Some isolated 100 degree heat index
values are possible here.

The weekend should be mainly dry as the cold front pushes offshore
and high pressure builds in from southeastern Canada.
