Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region

Very warm and humid conditions will persist tonight as a
southwesterly flow continues over the region. Lows will range from
the middle 60s in the outlying areas to the upper 70s in the New
York City metro area. Some isolated areas in the metro area may
not dip below 80. There will also be a chance for showers and
thunderstorms as a cold front approaches and moves through. Some
storms may be strong to possibly severe, with frequent lightning
and gusty winds being the main the main threats, mainly for areas
north and west of New York City. There may also be some patchy fog

Weak high pressure will build in for the weekend, providing mainly
dry conditions. It will continue to be hot however, with
temperatures on Saturday in the 90s region-wide. Isolated areas in
the metro region may reach 100. Sunday will not be as warm, but
still above normal for this time of year. Humidity levels will not
be too high, so the heat index values during this time frame will
be near the actual temperatures.

Hot conditions continue into the beginning of the new work week
with another chance for showers and thunderstorms.
