Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
344 PM EST Mon Jan 9 2017

High pressure off the East Coast will allow for a light southerly
flow tonight. Skies will clear through the first half of the
night, then clouds will increase towards morning as a warm front
approaches. Another cold night is on tap, but it will not be
nearly as cold as it has been. Lows will range from the teens in
the normally colder spots, to the lower and middle 20s along the
coast and into the New York City metro area. Temperatures in these
areas will likely remain steady or rise a degree or two.

Warmer temperatures continue into Tuesday and into the middle of
the week as the warm front continues its approach and lifts north
of the area. Highs will range from the lower 30s north and west of
the metro area, to the lower 40s across southeast Connecticut,
Long Island and the metro area. There will be a chance for snow or
a wintry mix, mainly north and west of the metro area, with rain
elsewhere. Less than an inch of accumulation is expected for the
areas that will see snow through mid-Tuesday night.

All areas will change over to rain by Wednesday as warmer air
works into the area. It will remain unsettled into Wednesday as a
cold front approaches from the west.
