National Weather Service New York NY
432 AM EDT TUE MAY 24 2016
A weakening low pressure system south of Cape Cod will track to
the northeast into this evening. Showers and isolated
thunderstorms will continue through most of today, mainly into
early this afternoon. As the low weakens and tracks away from the
area showers will taper off late this afternoon and end this
evening. Highs will range from the lower 70s across northeaster
New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley to the mid and upper 60s
across the remainder of the region.
Weak high pressure builds into the region from the west later this
evening and into Wednesday, bringing in much warmer air. Lows
tonight will be mainly in the lower to mid 50s, with lower 60s in
the New York City metropolitan area. With sunshine and westerly
winds a dramatic warmer up is expected Wednesday with just about
all areas seeing temperatures peaking in the lower to mid 80s.
The twin forks of Long Island and coastal southeastern Connecticut
will be in the mid to upper 70s.
