Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
338 PM EST Tue Dec 6 2016

Rain will overspread the area tonight, from southwest to northeast
as a warm front approaches. The rain will change to snow well
inland after sunset, with a wintry mix possible farther south.
Precipitation should remain all rain along the coast and into the
New York City metro area. Lows will range from the lower to middle
30s inland, to lower 40s across Long Island and the metro area.

Warmer air will move into the area late tonight, and the rain
snow line will creep northward. The bulk of the precipitation will
have ended by sunrise Wednesday, with just some drizzle possible
Wednesday morning. There is a low chance of seeing some freezing
drizzle in far northern areas such as Orange County, but even
here, precipitation will be mainly in liquid form.

Dry conditions return for Wednesday afternoon as an area of low
pressure ejects off the mid-Atlantic coast and weakens as it moves
east. Temperatures will be at or just below normal for Thursday,
with just a slight chance for precipitation.
