Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
507 AM EST Thu Dec 14 2017

Low pressure will pass south of the area and out to sea today.
Light snow will end from west to east by afternoon. The highest
snowfall totals are expected across Long Island, where 2-3 inches
is expected. Temperatures will remain below normal, with
highs only rising into the upper 20s to mid 30s.

Once the low moves east this afternoon, high pressure will
briefly build into the region tonight before moving offshore on
Friday. It will be very cold tonight under mostly clear skies and
light winds. Lows are expected to range from lower teens and
single digits inland and upper teens to around 20 closer to the
coast. A mostly dry and cold day continues Friday until a slight
chance of snow showers returns to the region late as a developing
low passes well to the east and another approaches from the Great
Lakes.
