Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
440 AM EST Sat Feb 17 2018

High pressure retreats to the northeast today as low pressure tracks
towards the Mid-Atlantic coast. As a result, after a sunny start this
morning, clouds will increase this afternoon and some light snow
will build into mainly western portions of the Tri-state by late
afternoon. This snow could be mixed with rain across Northeast New
Jersey, Nw York City and Long Island. Highs today will mainly be in
the mid to upper 30s, which is around 5 degrees below normal.

This low then tracks northeast to a position well southeast of Cape
Cod by Sunday morning. This will bring snow across the Tri-state,
mixed with rain for at least a portion of this evening across
southern portions of New York City and Long Island. The snow will
come to an end across the area before sunrise on Sunday morning.

High pressure then builds over the area on Sunday, then slides
offshore through Monday. The result will be a mainly clear sky and
moderating temperatures. Highs Sunday and Monday should be mainly in
the 40s, with highs on Monday a couple of degrees higher than those
on Sunday.
