Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
511 AM EDT FRI JUL 22 2016

Typical summertime heat and humidity is in store through the
weekend as winds remain out of the southwest with high pressure
off the East Coast.

Mostly sunny skies will start the day...but clouds will increase
during the afternoon as a cold front approaches from the
northwest. There will be a chance for showers and thunderstorms
that will overspread the area from northwest to southeast, with
the best chances late in the afternoon through the first half of
tonight. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s in the New York
City metro area, with upper 80s to lower 90s expected elsewhere.
Combined with the humidity, it will feel more like the upper 90s
in the metro area. Some isolated 100 degree heat index values are
also possible here.

The weekend should be mainly dry as the cold front pushes offshore
and high pressure builds in from southeastern Canada.
