FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY - HANFORD CA

...High flows will continue on mainstem rivers during the next
several days...

...The Merced River at Stevinson is at monitor stage and is
forecast to rise above flood stage Wednesday morning...

...The San Joaquin River at Newman will remain above monitor
stage for the next several days...

...Bear Creek at McKee Road will rise above monitor stage this
afternoon...

.The combination of rain and abnormally high water releases below
the dams will cause rises and swift flows along many of the mainstem
rivers during the next few days.

Forecasts are based on present and forecasted meteorological and
hydrologic conditions at time of issuance.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Unlisted forecast points are expected to remain below monitor stage.
All those affected by river conditions should remain alert for rapid
changes and for possible forecast revisions.

  San Joaquin River at Newman
* At  2:00 PM Monday the stage was 65.8 feet
* Forecast to fluctuate near 65.5 FT thru Wednesday early afternoon.
* Flood Stage 69.4 ft
* Monitor Stage 63.0 ft
* IMPACT...Near 66.1 feet, Peak stage of record - 1/28/1997
* IMPACT...Near 65.0 feet, The fisherman`s bend trailer park north of
  hills ferry road begins to flood.
* IMPACT...Near 63.6 feet, Sand slough will flow.
* IMPACT...Near 63.0 feet, Monitor stage. Levee patrols required.
* IMPACT...Near 62.0 feet, Water seepage begins outside the levee
  along the river, near the newman waste water treatment plant.

  Bear Creek above Bear Creek at Mckee Road
* At  2:00 PM Monday the stage was 10.0 feet
* Forecast to rise above monitor stage of 17.0 FT after midnight
  tomorrow then forecast to crest near 19.0 FT tomorrow early
  afternoon then forecast to fall below monitor stage of 17.0 FT
  Wednesday morning then forecast to recede to near 7.0 FT Saturday
  morning.
* Flood Stage 23.0 ft
* Monitor Stage 17.0 ft
* IMPACT...Near 17.0 feet, Storm drains begin to back up. Street
  flooding occurs primarily north of Bear Creek Drive and east of M
  Street.
* IMPACT...Near 16.0 feet, South bike path along Bear Creek floods
  downstream of the G Street bridge.

  forecast to fluctuate near 71.0 FT thru early Wednesday morning.
* Flood Stage 71.0 ft
* Monitor Stage 67.0 ft
* IMPACT...Near 70.5 feet, Water is up to the maintenance building in
  Hagaman Park.
* IMPACT...Near 69.0 feet, The playground area in Hagaman Park along
  Highway 165 is flooded.
* IMPACT...Near 65.0 feet, Hagaman Park along Highway 165 begins to
  flood.
