Cold surface high pressure will prevail across the region this
afternoon and tonight.  A major winter storm system will impact the
region this weekend bringing snow...sleet and freezing rain.  An ice
storm warning has been issued for much of Kansas and Missouri
starting this afternoon and extending into Sunday. A winter storm
watch covers areas to the north from Nebraska into Iowa and parts of
western Illinois due to the potential of significant icing.

High temperatures this afternoon will be in the 20s. Lows tonight
will be in the single digits and teens.
