...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 03/09/17 TORNADO EVENT

.OVERVIEW...A tornado developed over Calloway County KY
and moved Southeast briefly across the central portion
of the county.

End location:           5 miles southeast of Murray Kentucky

SURVEY SUMMARY: The tornado damage started on south side of
Murray at the high school. It tore the roofs off of two dugouts
and hurled them across the street into a house and a car. Numerous
very large trees were uprooted. The path traveled along Highway 121
crossing to the north side of the highway just outside of Murray.
Most of the path was of high end EF0 strength with numerous trees
snapped and uprooted but the path narrowed as it left Murray. Near
the end of the path the tornado intensified to an EF1 where it tore
large sections of well built steel barn and hurled projectiles into
and through the wall of a garage. It also uprooted large trees that
fell on another building destroying the building entirely.

EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
