Clouds were on the increase during the evening hours with a few
light showers in southern Illinois and southwest Indiana. After
midnight, scattered light showers developed in southeast Missouri,
and spread into far southern Illinois, and areas of west Kentucky
along and just south of the Ohio River. Temperatures were very
mild, with readings at 4 am in the 50s.
An approaching low pressure system and cold front will bring
increasing chances of showers to the region beginning late tonight.
For today and this evening, some light showers will be possible,
especially in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. Numerous
showers will spread eastward late tonight into Friday, and
widespread showers will continue into Friday night and through the
weekend. A Flash Flood Watch begins Friday night and continues
through Saturday for southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois,
where the heaviest rainfall amounts are expected. Temperatures will
remain unseasonably warm today through Friday night, then
temperatures will cool to more seasonable readings, with highs in
the upper 40s and 50s for the weekend.
