The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in Poor Drainage Areas for...
  Western Suffolk County in southeastern New York...

* Until 200 PM EDT

* At 1158 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in
  minor flooding in the advisory area. Radar estimates that one half
  to one inch of rain has already fallen, and that additional
  rainfall of up to one half inch is likely.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
  Islip, Shirley, Medford, Patchogue, Center Moriches, Holbrook, Bay
  Shore, Sayville, Mastic, Yaphank, East Patchogue, North Bay Shore,
  East Islip, North Bellport and Bohemia.


Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage
areas and low lying spots.
