National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
211 PM SST Fri Sep 22 2017

.Short term...
TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...Surface trough continues to spread
scattered showers within the vicinity. A weak high pressure to the
south is slowly drifting east. A band of showers to the northeast
remains nearly stationary with thunderstorms embedded within. A
mid level ridge to the east of Manua will push the band of
showers across the islands tonight. Models continue to hold these
showers over the islands through Saturday morning. A strong high
pressure migrating from the southwest will generate breezy east
winds on Saturday night. Abundant moisture will be found to the
southwest as a convergence develops.

.Long term...
MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...The strong high pressure will continue
east while the shearline deepens and strengthens on Tuesday. Winds
will shift to the southeast on Tuesday. As the high pressure moves
farther east, trades will shift east and diminish to gentle flow
on Wednesday. However, scattered showers will remain for the rest
of the new week.

Seas of 5 to 7 ft will persist tonight before elevating above
advisory levels on Saturday night. With breezy winds across the
area, seas of 6 to 8 ft will remain for the rest of the forecast
