...MAJOR WINTER STORM EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

FOR TODAY...THE MIDSOUTH WILL HAVE ONE DAY OF RELIEF FROM THE RECENT
EXTENDED COLD WEATHER. SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE AND BECOME
GUSTY BY THIS AFTERNOON WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM THE
MIDDLE 50S ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS TO NEAR 70 ACROSS
PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI. SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS
WILL OCCUR. RAIN MAY BE HEAVY TONIGHT FROM THE MISSOURI BOOTHEEL INTO
NORTHWEST TENNESSEE...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN POSTED FOR THIS
AREA.

A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH THE MIDSOUTH FROM THE
NORTH LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY. WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION
WILL OCCUR BEHIND THE FRONT AND CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
WITH MUCH COLDER AIR PUSHING INTO THE AREA...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO A
WINTRY MIX. SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND
SNOW ARE EXPECTED. WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND WATCHES HAVE BEEN
POSTED.

PRECIPITATION WILL MOVE OUT OF THE MIDSOUTH EARLY THURSDAY BUT
BITTER COLD WILL PERSIST INTO SATURDAY ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. LOW
TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS FRIDAY
MORNING.
