The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Crawford County in east central Missouri...
  Iron County in southeastern Missouri...
  Jefferson County in east central Missouri...
  Ste. Genevieve County in southeastern Missouri...
  Reynolds County in southeastern Missouri...
  Madison County in southeastern Missouri...
  Washington County in east central Missouri...
  St. Francois County in southeastern Missouri...

* Until 1015 PM CST.

* At 421 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain producing
  thunderstorms which will cause flash flooding. 1 to 2 inches of
  rainfall have fallen since 1 PM and is part of a much larger
  rainfall event of up to 5 to 8 inches over the past several days.
  Area roads are being closed due to these high rainfall amounts
  over the past several days.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Arnold, Farmington, Festus, Eureka, Sullivan, Bonne Terre, De Soto,
  Pevely, Desloge, Crystal City, Ste. Genevieve, Fredericktown,
  Herculaneum, Cuba, Hillsboro, Byrnes Mill, Potosi, Steelville,
  Bourbon and Bismarck.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to a half inch or inch could occur
as the rainfall ends from west to east.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 44 in Missouri between exits 203 and 218.
 Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 141 and 187.

This also includes  Washington State Park, St. Joe State Park, St.
Francois State Park, Onondaga Cave State Park, Johnsons Shut-Ins
State Park, Hawn State Park, Fort Davidson Historic Site, Felix Valle
House State Park, Elephant Rocks State Park, Mastodon Historic Site,
Dillard Mill Historic Site, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, Sandy
Creek Covered Bridge Historic Site, Missouri Mines Historic Site,
Gov. Dunklin`s Grave Historic Site, and Clearwater Lake Recreational


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
