RISING STAGES ON AREA RIVERS

A WEATHER FRONT REMAINS OVER EASTERN INTERIOR ALASKA AND THE
WESTERN ALASKA RANGE. AS OF FRIDAY EVENING SUBSTANTIAL RAIN HAD
FALLEN FROM THE TANANA RIVER NORTH...WITH MORE EXPECTED. THE FRONT
CONTINUES TO MOVE SOUTH AND EAST. A PERIOD OF STEADY RAIN WITH THE
PASSAGE OF THE FRONT IS FOLLOWED BY INTERMITTENT RAIN...WHICH WILL
GRADUALLY BECOME LESS FREQUENT THROUGH SATURDAY AND SATURDAY
NIGHT. TOTAL RAINFALL BETWEEN THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH AND ONE
AND ONE HALF INCHES IS EXPECTED THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...MOST OF
WHICH WILL FALL BY EARLY SATURDAY.

THIS RAIN WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO CAUSE NOTICEABLE RISES ON
AREA RIVERS. FLOODING OF ROADS OR STRUCTURES IS NOT EXPECTED AT
THIS TIME... BUT SOME STREAMS WILL RISE ABOVE BANKFULL...GRAVEL
BARS WILL BE SUBMERGED...AND BANK EROSION WILL OCCUR IN SOME
AREAS.

A WEATHER FRONT HAS MOVED IN FROM THE NORTHWEST. IT HAS PASSED
THE YUKON FLATS...AND LIES OVER THE TANANA-YUKON UPLANDS AND
THE FORTYMILE COUNTRY. SUBSTANTIAL RAIN HAS FALLEN WITH THIS
FRONT...WITH MORE EXPECTED. THE FRONT CONTINUES TO MOVE SOUTH AND
EAST. A PERIOD OF STEADY RAIN WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE FRONT IS
FOLLOWED BY INTERMITTENT RAIN...WHICH WILL GRADUALLY BECOME LESS
FREQUENT THROUGH SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. TOTAL RAINFALL
SOUTH OF THE YUKON RIVER BETWEEN ONE HALF INCH AND ONE INCH IS
EXPECTED THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING....MOST OF WHICH WILL FALL BY
EARLY SATURDAY.
