...GUSTY WINDS AND DRY WEATHER INCREASE FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS
TODAY...

The lack of precipitation this month has lead to very dry
conditions in Maine`s forests this fall. Gusty northwest winds
will continue through this afternoon, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph
expected. In addition, humidity will lower through the afternoon
hours as drier air moves into the region. These factors will
increase the potential for any fires that start to spread quickly
and become difficult to contain.

The Maine Forest Service advises against any open burning today
due to these conditions. Numerous wildfires have started across
the state over the last few days and those who are working or
recreating outside should be fire aware.
